- Metromode Magazine doesn't pay their writers as promised!
byswanVendor02/17/2009 - 4:28pmI was hired in early 2008 to write for Metromode Magazine (Cameron Ink) on a contract basis. Although I was paid for the first article I wrote, I was not paid as agreed for my contributions to the next two issues, which totalled $425. Two other writers and the former editor are owed money, too. Bill Cameron, the owner, promised to pay us and did make one payment back in October, bringing the total that he owes me down to $375. However that was the only money we ever got from him, and he was repeatedly rude and insulting to us for daring to demand the money we were owed.
On December 1st, when he'd promised to pay us the rest of what we were owed, Mr. Cameron announced that he is planning to file bankruptcy. So far he has not, so I wonder if that is true, or simply a ruse to get us off his back.
In any case, I recommend that other writers, editors, etc. DO NOT write for Metromode. In addition, I hope advertisers will be wise and NOT ADVERTISE in a magazine that is not fiscally responsible and does not keep their promises. PLEASE DON'T PATRONIZE THIS MAGAZINE!
