Sorry to learn that Marcus Pachner of the Pachner Co. is listed at Colorado Local First, as he is leading the charge to install a Walmart at the redevelopment of 9th Ave and Colorado Blvd. Walmart is the antithesis of Colorado Local - it is an out-of-state multinational corporation that depresses wages, busts unions, commits systematic bribery to expand, and is guilty of abusive labor practices up and down the supply line, from the retail store employee, to warehouse subcontractor employees, to workers at the source, whether in Louisiana to China. Walmart extracts profit from the communities where they are based, deliver them to the Walton family based in Bentonville, Arkansas, where they deploy their billions to pervert our electoral process with unlimited campaign contributions, to candidates who promote their vision of unfettered, untaxed, naked profiteering. Shame on Marcus Pachner.

Wash Perk's space has been enlarged, and you still feel like your in your best friends living room. The ambiance is cozy and warm and SO welcoming. The staff are not only capable, efficient and professional, they are also kind and friendly.
--Oh, and the coffee? I've had my most memorable and favorite lattes here, not to mention the excellent lavender marshmallow mate, and y wonderful chai. The foodstuffs they offer are all local and always fresh. There is nothing I DON'T like about Wash Perk. I love that they showcase local artists, that there are regulars who feel like family, that they support their community and have a world outreach as well. The world would be a better place if every neighborhood had a Wash Perk.

I was a tenant for 501 hollywood Ft Collins, CO. I experienced a late move in, 25 to be exact. Marylea Dornseif, our landlord, told us it was unavoidable. The front yard was patchy and underwatered, the back was nothing but weeds and dust. We were under the impression that we needed to maintain, the lawns, which we did. We watered, mowed, and laid down weed control. the front looked much heathier when we left. We mowed the weeds in the back and watered, but there wasnt much we could do, without using money out of our pocket to fix their property's backyard. They never instructed us to do so, so we didn't, we maintained what was given to us.
We were given a bill after 60 days, with a charge for $300.00 fee for tilling and reseeding the backyard.
-the roof leaked
-the house was not up to code
We didn't decide to move out even though we had good reason, because we thought Marylea was a good person. We figured, we would be leaving her high and dry. She took our deposit, and is now asking for us to pay for her numerous upgrades to the house. Nearly $450

Living around the corner from Caffe Sanora has been a perk for me. I've always enjoyed pleasant experiences, whether grabbing coffee on the go, hanging around and chatting, or browsing the local neighborhood postings. The owner works along side the employees, and I've gotten to know all of them somewhat throughout my past year in the neighborhood. Many regulars frequent Caffe Sanora, returning for community as well as delicious coffee and pastries. Furthermore, the owner involves himself in local business activities geared toward improving Capitol Hill. I definitely recommend this coffee shop, especially for those looking for a regular place with positive energy.

Mary has been in plantscaping for over 20 years and has an amazing knowledge of native plants. Her work is visible both inside and outside Evergreen homes and businesses, and she gives her time and skills generously to local non-profit organizations. Watching HGTV one weekend morning, I even spotted her on "Inside Dirt"! (It was episode ISD-117, "Decorating with Plants" -- I called my mom to tell her I saw our "Mary Mary" on TV.)

All Colorado book-lovers know where to go to find the book they can't find elsewhere: The Tattered Cover. With multiple stories ;-) of multiple nooks of multiple shelves towering to the ceiling, it's a labyrinth of delicious thoughts, knowledge, and novels on nearly any subject you care to illuminate yourself. Even better, cozy chairs and sofas are strewn throughout to allow customers to curl up and enjoy some pages before making their selections. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere warm and inviting.
