Takoda Tavern- 'A Friend to Everyone' www.TakodaTavern.com

After seeing a couple dozen bars and restaurants close in Parker the last few years, one must wonder why someone gets into this business. It's costly to build, challenging to staff, the hours are long, and the competition fierce. Add in high food costs and the shaky economy and the failure rate in the business is scary. A couple tips to those in and considering the bar/restaurant business. 1). Get over yourself. It's about what your CUSTOMER wants. He/She wants to be recognized and greeted. Everytime. The most important sound to any man's ears is his own name. 2)Offer value. Time's are tough, you gotta be price right on something. Might be your food, might be your whiskey, but give your customer something to remember. 3)Promote. Word of mouth is the best advertising, and the SLOWEST. Be the buzz, people talk. The One Place in Parker that gets it, is the Takoda Tavern, at Parker and Hess Roads. Clean. Parker newbies, and old timers share the love, you should too. Takoda is the Sioux word for ' a friend to everyone'.

Great place to buy fun stuff for kids!

I don't have children of my own, but this is an awesome store! I found some great gifts for my nieces and for a friend's new baby. In addition to quality resale clothing, Teenie Greenies sells locally made crafts like hair clips, bibs, jewelery, and hats. Julie is really committed to the community, environment, and to her store being a welcoming place for both parents and kids.

Great coffee shop!

My office is right near this place, so I go here often. The staff is always friendly, the coffee is good & strong, and they have a menu w/ many breakfast and lunch options. Try their tomato basil soup - it's awesome! This is a great place to get some work done, too, and they have a patio to enjoy when it's warm outside.

Locally Made Dog Biscuits! Cool!

Reviewed Business:
Tell us about your experience:

I wandered into their location last week and genuinely had a good time. =D

A Little Background: I'm used to pet stores having a creepy air to them... either some detached-from-the-animals'-welfare feel, an upscale yuppy puppy feel, OR at the least smelling like nauseating mix of urine, chemicals, & fear. This has caused me to avoid pet & pet supply stores in recent years.

I must say, Quality Paws lives up to its name! It really is a place of quality. The employee (I'm so sorry that I forgot your name!) I encountered  was warm, friendly, and certainly seemed happy to be working there. She made sure that I found what I needed and even signed me up for their e-mail list -which I was glad for since I'm new to the area.  We had a nice conversation to boot!

My shopping experience was the opposite of what I have experienced at chain pet stores. -None of that robotic dehumanized customer vs employee dynamic!  These were real people. Real people who welcomed me to Denver and made me feel like I was a part of a community.  Thanks!

PS They had these lovely looking, LOCALLY MADE dog biscuits for sale on the counter. Quality Paws: A local business that supports other local businesses. Two Thumbs Up!
