The fourth Denver Old House Fair will be bursting with information distinctively crafted for owners of houses that are at least 50 years old. Workshops will focus on maintaining houses for value and energy efficiency and gracing their architectural style inside and out. For the first time, local independent retailers will offer furniture and decorative items for sale. Further, Denver officials will be available to answer questions on a variety of topics from zoning to inspections. Numerous exhibitors will be on hand to showcase products and services that are specific for houses built from 1860 to 1960.
Workshops will present information on a variety of topics: The green track will offer a concentration of information for increasing and enhancing energy efficiency while reducing carbon footprints, including a workshop titled “Kitchen Design with Green in Mind.” The home track’s emphasis is appropriate design elements for specific architectural styles and eras and maintaining and restoring old houses. One of the workshops will cover Oriental rugs “101” and styles for various home types. A panel on Denver’s yet-to-be-implemented new zoning code will be offered.
New this year will be various retail vignette areas for Victorians, Bungalows, Denver Squares, Tudors and Mid-century Modern homes. Accessories and furniture - from fancy lace items for a Queen Anne to shiny chrome wares for the Ranch - will be for sale.
Tours of the historic Highlands Masonic Temple Center will begin at 10 a.m. and at 2 p.m. The building has been a treasured northwest Denver landmark for over 90 years!
Businesses interested in exhibiting and sponsoring the event should contact the Society now by calling Elizabeth Wheeler, 303-916-4359, emailing DOHS at information@denversoldhousesociety.org or by filling out the on-line Fair Sponsorship form. Exhibit space has sold out for all previous fairs. .

Advance tickets are available at Modern Bungalow for a mere $7 ($10 day of event).
Denver's Old House Society is a new nonprofit dedicated to educating owners of old (50+) houses and helping them protect their neighborhoods. We work with local groups and neighborhoods. We do fun and educational events, such as guided walking tours, workshops on Saturday mornings, dinners in old houses, and all-day fairs with lots of presentations and exhibitors. We do serious business, too, by bringing attention to houses scheduled for demolition, neighborhoods trying to protect themselves from development, and information about Denver’s new zoning code, Blueprint Denver. We offer lots of resources and reference material, and a section on old-houses for sale.
