  • Our Environmental Mission

The conversion of business and responsibility

We believe that with all things comes responsibility. In this regard, we pledge our stewardship to the earth while maintaining our business focus. It is critical for everyone to work together in this endeavor, so we will reach out in every aspect of our business to invite others to join us in this mission.

We understand that sustainability will take time and effort.

Therefore we are committed to educating others regarding sustainable products, and pledge to do our own investigations regarding the products that we sell. We will seek out the products that are renewable, have less impact on the planet, and wherever possible buy locally made products for our store here in Colorado. We then still need to ship them to you. At best we will continue to research products made in the U.S. for our website distribution, with the exclusion of those fair-trade products and products made in other countries that are made with a focus on betterment of the lives of people in developing countries. This would include women's coops, kid's art project (see the Cards from Africa made by Rowandan children).

Our Place in the World and our Connection

We know of the poverty and social injustices in many parts of the world. We do find products that are manufactured in some of these areas. In this respect, we have committed to the following:

We will ask all the hard questions regarding the purchasing agents and to what extent they seek to guarantee that the products they sell are manufactured with the good of the people in mind. We seek Fair Trade products, products that have been produced by peoples who are paid a fair wage, women who are honored as mothers and given the freedom to work and support their families, while still maintaining their presence in the home.

    Charitable Contributions

We believe in giving back as part of the cycle of abundance in the world. Therefore we give regularly to the following charities:

    ATRAVES (www.atraves.org)

    Environmental Commitments

We use post consumer recycled paper for printing, copying, packaging, shipping.

We recycle our office paper, cans, plastic bottles, catalogues.

We use as little of our natural resources as we can manage, and encourage others to do the same.
